ENCRYPTION

I am going to be talking about Encryption! Enjoy!

What is encryption?

Encryption means to scramble data in such a way that only someone with a secret code or key can read it.

Encryption is the most effective way to achieve data security. To read an encrypted file, you must have access to a secret key or unencrypted data is called plain text; encrypted data is referred to as Cipher text.

Story of encryption

A 2009 attack against RockYou.com yielded 32million passwords, allowing hackers to replace their dictionary-generated lists with words people were actually using, while revealing common strategies like replacing “e” with “3” or capitalizing the first letter. Because people are increasingly using just a few passwords for many sites each breach exposes users across a host of platforms.

How to protect yourself from encryption

To protect your security experts suggest using a different, randomly generated password on every site, tracking them with a password program.

Make a strong complicated password that you can remember.
